The Most Lavish Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous

There are few people in the world who really know how to live lavishly. We don’t just mean the rich and famous – though they may be the most well-known – but rather those who know how to make every single day of their lives as comfortable as possible.

Many people don’t realize that it’s not all about money, or at least not just money.

The Most Lavish Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous

Elvis Presley

On January 8, 1977, Elvis Presley passed away. Though he did live extravagantly for a time, his lifestyle was humble compared to many other celebrities.

Elvis' extravagant behavior began around 1975 when his ex-wife Priscilla filed for divorce, stating What's mine is mine and what's yours is yours. As a result, Presley turned to drugs in order to dull the pain he felt from the separation.

Bruce Lee

It is difficult to define a lavish lifestyle because there are many lifestyles that meet that qualification. What makes someone's lifestyle lavish is the one who perceives it as such or if it is defined by society as lavish.

Charles Darwin

When it comes to who leads the most lavish lifestyle, you have many choices to choose from. From royalty to rock stars, billionaires to moguls- there is a list as long as your arm with all sorts of people who live some pretty lavish lifestyles.

But one in particular that springs to mind as having one of the most luxurious lifestyles was Charles Darwin. Born into a family with a wealthy background, he was afforded plenty of opportunities during his life.

Steve Jobs

If you were to spend 10 minutes scrolling through Steve Jobs' estate, you would probably think he lived a lavish lifestyle.

Yes, he had amassed a lot of wealth and status, but most days he wore jeans or cargo shorts, with a black turtleneck under an unbuttoned dress shirt. He still drove the same Toyota that he had bought in 1996. It's not just Jobs who follows this minimalist lifestyle.

Queen Elizabeth II

Born into a royal family, Queen Elizabeth II has lived a lavish lifestyle her entire life. She is the longest-reigning monarch in British history and is also head of state in 15 countries around the world.

Her extravagant lifestyle has been attributed to her family's long history of inherited wealth, with some estimates putting her net worth at over $500 million dollars.

Bill Gates

One reason why Bill is considered to have such a lavish lifestyle is that he lives near an average suburban home in an area where properties are easily valued at close to $1 million. In his free time, Bill enjoys golfing and reading sci-fi novels.

J.K. Rowling

Some may argue that J.K. Rowling, best-selling author, and creator of Harry Potter, lives the most lavish lifestyle there is. As one of the richest self-made women in Great Britain, she has never had to worry about money again. Rowling was born in England but grew up in Portgordon, Scotland.

Serena Williams

Famed American tennis player Serena Williams has a lavish lifestyle. She lives in an 11,400-square-foot mansion on an 8-acre estate, which she named Palm Beach Gardens. The home has six bedrooms, nine bathrooms, an outdoor pool, and a guest house that can accommodate up to 14 people.

Her kids' rooms are modeled after their favorite cartoon characters with giant King Arthur beds draped in Mickey Mouse sheets and SpongeBob motifs.

Leonardo da Vinci

Da Vinci is often cited as one of the wealthiest people to have ever lived with an estimated net worth of US$100 billion. A good chunk of his fortune came from being a skilled inventor and having a number of wealthy patrons.

He was known for his lavish lifestyle, often keeping himself entertained by designing new mechanical devices.
